Multiple Teams · Latest Sport’s Information for Fall 2020

Hello Islander Athletic Families
What a crazy time this has been.  Wanted to let everyone know the latest as it pertains to sports at Coronado High School for the coming school year.
CIF at this point is hoping that Fall sports (well all sports for that matter) will go on as planned  for the 2020-2021 school year, but will not make any actual decisions until July 20th.  As soon as that decision is made we will post on the ISF website and get the word out as quickly as possible. If there is any delay in Fall sports it could mean that the timeline for winter and spring sports could change but let’s cross that bridge when we get to it.
What we can tell you is that if you are interested in playing a CIF Fall sport (Girls Golf, Girls Tennis, Boys Waterpolo, Football, Girls Volleyball, and Co-ed Cross Country) you will need to register on the ISF website. ISF will also offer Boys Beach volleyball. Registration is now open. At this time please do not donate any funds.

Go to

Coronado High School

and then click on the “more” tab.  On the first day of practice your athlete will need to bring with them a signed confirmation page and signed and stamped physical.  So you may want to call your doctor ASAP in order to make an appointment. You can obtain a copy of the physical form on the ISF website under the “more” tab as well.

One caveat is that if you have an issue getting a physical before the first day of practice you can get a 30 day waiver to get your physical.  The 30 days starts from the 1st day of practice. In addition we (CHS) must have on file a verified physical, dated within the last year. Families will also have to complete a physical waiver which has yet to be posted.  So if you played a sport last year for CHS we should have a copy of that physical.  This is NOT true for those that played Middle School sports last year through ISF those are destroyed at the end of the school year. If you are new to the District or an incoming ninth grader from CMS we will honor a physical done last year that states you are cleared for all physical activity but we will need to have a copy, this is only for the 30 day waiver.  Please note that this only for Fall 2020 sports.  But please understand that this is for this year only, for example, if you get a physical this year Aug 20th and then next year (2021) play a fall sport that starts before Aug 20th you will need to get a physical dated after June 1, 2021 but also dated before the first day of practice.  This can be an issue with insurance paying but a rule we must abide by.
So below are the first day of practices for the following fall sports.  This would be the earliest that official practices could start and we will not know for sure if there are any delays until July 20th.  For your planning purposes I would think (I cannot guarantee) that Girls tennis and golf should start as planned.  If you want to get on specific sport’s email list please send me your email with the sport and grade of your child.  Many are already on your sport’s list.
Start Dates
Football:  July 30th (for collection of paperwork and to issue gear) first practice July 31st
Girls Volleyball, Boys Waterpolo:  Aug 1st
Girls Golf, Girls Tennis and Co-ed Cross Country:  Aug 8th
