Islanders News · ISF Award Winners

The Islander Sports Foundation is Proud to announce their annual scholarship winners which is given to a male and female athlete that best embodies the ISF motto of Integrity, Sportsmanship and Friendship

This year’s winners are: Andrew Bell and Sarah Barns

Andrew (Lacrosse) was chosen for his unwavering dedication to his teammates. Voted as Captain he was the heart of the Islander team and was respected by all his teammates. Andrew played a vital role in two teams that made it to the finals in the top “OPEN” division and was named All-League and All-CIF.  Additionally Andrew spent some of his free time coaching at the youth levels.  Andrew is considered by many future Islanders to be a hero, and we can’t think of anyone better for our youth to want to be like. Andrew will be attending Boston College.

Sarah (Basketball) was chosen due to her optimistic spirit and her ability to make everyone feel welcomed and a vital part of the team.  Her basketball coach Toler Goodwin stated that “Sarah, no matter what kind of day she was having always had a smile on her face and determination in her heart”.  She was a great role model to younger teammates that hard work pays off.  Sarah was always there for her team. Sarah will be attending Point Loma Nazarene in the fall.

The coaching staff and ISF cannot think of two better student-athletes to represent the best of what makes high school sports great.  Congratulation Andrew and Sarah!
