Boys Varsity Tennis · Meet New Head Men’s Head Tennis Coach Mackenzie White

The Islander Boys’ Varsity Tennis team welcomes new coach Mackenzie White. Coach White is a Coronado resident and had previously coached the boys’ and girls’ tennis teams at Francis Parker. Playing tennis through high school, Coach White went onto play college tennis at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque—a top Division-I team in the country. Among her accomplishments on their tennis team, she held a ranking in doubles with her partner.

After graduating from the University of New Mexico, Coach White went on to study sports nutrition at the University of Tennessee. She found her passion as a sports dietician and now works for the US Olympic Committee in Chula Vista. In addition to working with Olympic athletes, Coach White continues to play tennis as a hobby and enjoys coaching high school tennis.

“High school tennis is very interesting,” she says, “You have players that play all kinds of sports and are just athletic naturally, and then you have players that are good at tennis specifically and specialized young. It’s also fun because you have the individual dynamic, but at the same time, in high school, you have to focus as a team.”

We welcome Coach White to our high school sports community at Coronado High School.
